This song was born from a love for travel. I felt like whenever I felt like I wasn't happy with life that the best cure I could think of was to leave the country and explore the world a little bit. The fictional person that I made up in this story has the same habit. Sometimes we can find peace in life by discovering new things and gaining a new perspective. Moments in these new places may not change our situation but certainly change us.
lyrics
You’d already won then you lost so much
You fought the fight then you lost your touch
You tried for love but got it bad
And every song sounds so sad, and every day you just feel older
They gave you the pills but the pills won’t bring relief
Your writing things down in that journal you never read
And every time you fall asleep your scared you’ll wake up and youll be
In the place you were before
So you wrote a book and you sailed a ship
And you flew across the Atlantic
Drove through Portugal and you walked through Spain
Going anywhere to escape the pain
But it all made sense on that summers day
When the Gondolier and the choir sang
But you know my dear if you let me in
I would make it so you never have to travel again
You said you found love but it didn’t find you back
Now he’s moving on and your running from your past
Your father lays in a hospital gown, his eyes are closed his hairs falling out
And you never got the chance to tell him
So you bought a car drove to Mexico
And you played the slots on the riverboat
Through the waterfalls and the jungle heat
Walking anywhere trying to find your feat
But it all made sense on that crooked street
Where Peruvians danced the salsa beat
But you know my dear if you let me in
I would make it so you never had to travel again
To the Taj Mahal, to the pyramids,
To the wailing wall or to London bridge,
To New York’s skyline or to Eastern bay,
Up to Heaven’s throne down to Devil’s Gate
It will all make sense once you get back home
Name the time and place where you want my love
Because of all the places I’ve been to
I have never seen anything as beautiful as you
